ABOUT

What is OASIS?

OASIS is a direct at home sleep assessment of children with intellectual disability and their same household sibling. Our aim is to better understand the relationship between poor sleep and chronic ill health, as well as the impact on same-household sibling sleep.

How does it work?

In this study, sleep is indirectly measured through actigraphy which involves wearing a wristwatch device known as a Motion Watch to track movement on either the wrist or ankle.

These sleep diaries are filled in by parents/carers and detail day-to-day happenings, when the watch was removed and when their child goes to sleep/wakes up.

Caregivers can also take part in an optional Zoom interview with a member of our research team during the study period. This additional interview will be about overnight care needs, access to sleep services, family wellbeing and sibling support.
